Mary Locklear-Jones LCMHCS, LPC, LCAS, CCS
I have worked in public behavioral health since 2011 and have had the privilege of supporting individuals with a wide range of needs and life experiences. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor in North Carolina (LCMHCS #9105), a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina (LP #10796), a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS #2714), and a Certified Clinical Supervisor (#20208).
My primary areas of focus include addiction, depression, and anxiety, and I also work with concerns such as ADHD, trauma, substance use, anger, codependency, family conflict, life transitions, self‑esteem, relationship issues, and women’s issues. I welcome clients navigating pregnancy and postpartum challenges, school or peer difficulties, spiritual concerns, and dual‑diagnosis needs.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in Person‑Centered care, because I believe deeply in meeting clients where they are and working collaboratively on what feels most meaningful to them. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Gestalt‑informed “here and now” strategies. In group settings, I strongly value Brendtro’s Positive Peer Culture and the power of community support. I recognize that every client is unique—what works for one person may not work for another—and I tailor treatment to honor each individual’s strengths, needs, and goals.
On a personal note, I am a three‑time graduate of UNC‑Pembroke, a proud member of the Lumbee Tribe, and the mother of two wonderful sons, Julian and Joshua. These parts of my life shape the compassion, cultural awareness, and authenticity I bring into the therapy space. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to move toward healing and growth.
